PlanetCrap's Request-a-Feature Thread
December 27th 2003, 23:13 CET by zimbardo_ugly

You know we need one of these.

I'll start off by kindly pointing how useful it would be to make the web interface display the last X (configurable) posts in a thread along with the unread threads, so that I can see what the first displayed poster is jibbleing about without manually shaving the address to the offset and lowering the post number. Also, it would be neat if those posts already read would be marked somehow (perhaps tinted background / font). Thank you.

This isn't a democracy anyway, I'm kind of suprised this topic even made it in.  The powers that be won't make changes unless they want to.  And why should they?

In what respect do I appear mad at this topic?

I think the madness at the topic is because this is just a wishlist of things that will never everever happen, ever.

morn posted a "requests for PC" topic near the launch of PC 6.0 and implemented several things people asked for (I had specifically asked to have the links mirrored at the bottom of the page, for example), so there is some faint hope that some of the requests might be implemented. Regardless, I don't see this topic roaming the streets and beating up little old ladies, so I'm not sure why anyone would have a problem with it.

And I forgot one that has always been a peeve of mine:

9. The ability to set the timestamp of posts to your local timezone.

Yeah, if any of these requests can be implemented that would of course be the best christmas present any of us could ever ask for. But even if they took away features, this would still be the best forum software in the world.

Not "realize" as much as "didn't realize" to be honest.  But merci beaucoup anyway, my days of having to manually enter an offset are gone and the future is bright.

Do you keep them on the fireplace mantel then? Boobz are very difficult to carry around.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Oblivion Lost?  Snappy title.  I do notice a lot of the screenshots have a fairly HL2 vibe to them though, the whole industrial wasteland/urban decay thing which I'm guessing is a sort of graphical offshoot from the WW2 games.

re:  S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

While I commend anyone who thinks that Andrei Tarkovsky's 1979 movie, or Strugratsky's  book that it was based on (that is out-of-print in the U.S. according to Amazon) is a surefire winner of a license, I hope they don't expect to get the recognition that it should.

Still, great idea for a game in my book.  Hope they don't screw it up.

How can you lose oblivion anyway? It would make more sense if the title was: "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Oblivion Forgotten".

I cannot really blame people for re-discovering S.T.A.L.K.E.R., since I myself largely ignored it and didn't listen to all the fanboism paid in advance - but then I saw that movie in which night falls in real time, with every shadow in the huge city seemingly obeying it and everything tinted purple in the sunset leaving you are alone with an AK in a dark city full of monsters. Even the night time is not just one kind of black - there is moonlight and fog and whatnot. I watched that movie a "so lonely" number of times and am now fully prepared to replace all the intestines of my PC once it comes out, if necessary.
